My Pet Dragon consists of husband-wife duo Todd Michaelsen (Granville, NY) & Reena Shah (Livingston, NJ).  Since their early beginnings in Brooklyn-NY, MPD has consistently been hailed by critics and fans alike for their songwriting & exciting live show.  Their melodic and sometimes anthemic songs are uniquely presented using a variety of looping instruments, vocals, & beats.  They have toured playing numerous National Music Festivals including Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Breckenridge Beer Festival in Colorado, NXNE in Toronto, MidPoint Music Fest in Cincinnati, KahBang in Maine, Pittsburgh PrideFest, Catalpa on Randall's Island in NYC as well as shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, & India. My Pet Dragon was also chosen for the Pilot Episode of Before They Were Famous, produced by MatchCut Productions of Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives fame. You may also know Todd & Reena from their work onSita Sings the Blues”, the award-winning animated feature film by Nina Paley. Todd composed the score and original songs for the film and Reena performed the speaking role of Sita and was roto-scoped dancing & singing in the 'Agni Pariksha" sequence. MPD’s song "Moonshine" was featured in Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine's National TV Commercial on the Discovery Channel. Todd has collaborated with Anoushka Shankar & Karsh Kale on their release, "Breathing Under Water", and KKs releases, "Broken English" and "Cinema". Reena has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien & in the Universal Pictures feature, The Guru, where she was the Assistant Choreographer. She has also taught interactive Indian Dance Workshops all around the world including The Kennedy Center, Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, American Film Institute's Project 20/20 Program in Peru, and the New York Hall of Science.
